The anthology's title, Girl of Monday, refers to a poem by Jana Beranová, about an abandoned infant embraced by the citizens of Rotterdam.
The book is part of broader initiative jointly launched by Carabela Books and the Dutch Albanian Foundation. In commemoration of IWD 2021, Dutch and Albanian poets got together to celebrate women's lives and struggles.
The poems have been compiled in a trilingual book (Albanian, English and Dutch), which includes the original version and the translation to the other two languages.
Praise for beauty, the many aspects of motherhood, the coming to age, the family burdens and youth's expectations are among the themes of this book.
Girl of Monday will be published in April 2023.
